Job Description
Bally Sports is looking for a proactive, take-charge Vice President of Engineering that can manage the procedures and standards for technical operation and maintenance of our regional sports networks (RSNs) and equipment. The person must have outstanding leadership and strategic planning skills as one of the primary responsibilities is to lead all the engineering staff at each RSN for technical support and help guide future strategy on engineering and operations including planning and budgeting. High-level communication skills are a necessity to facilitate collaboration with multiple technical operation groups and corporate engineering. This position has oversight responsibilities for all RSN technical equipment and related infrastructure, in-house computer networking and broadcast equipment, transmission platforms, and production services for remote integrated studio broadcasts. Additional responsibilities include managing and overseeing engineering staff and overall maintenance of buildings and company-owned sites.
The successful candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of digital and analog technologies as used in a broadcast environment, as well as a complete understanding of IT networks, broadcast equipment, live sports production technology and operations. This position requires at least 7 years' experience in TV broadcast engineering, including studio, live sports remote production and capital project planning and budgeting. Knowledge of studio equipment, Avid editing, and media management systems a plus. The candidate must also have a thorough working knowledge of all building systems and knowledge of compliance standards for any required governmental and industry regulations. This position requires at least 7 years' experience managing an engineering staff. A degree in a technically related field or equivalent work experience is preferred.
This position requires extensive domestic travel.
Qualifications
• 7+ years of experience in television engineering and operations required
• BS degree preferred
• Must be knowledgeable in all areas of technical production and familiar with all production equipment
• Experience working on, and knowledge of Digital & Social platforms preferred
• Previous experience in a Supervisory/Management role is highly desirable
• Strong analytical/communicative skills are a must
• Outstanding interpersonal/management skills are required
• Must be able to communicate effectively in a team atmosphere
• Must be able to meet deadlines and work under pressure
• Must be able to quickly learn new tools and technologies
