Overview

Are you a sports podcast fanatic with your finger on the pulse of trending digital content?

Audacy's sports team is looking for a highly motivated, creative and detail-oriented Podcast Editor to join our growing team (based either in our Philadelphia headquarters or remote for the right fit).

The ideal candidate is a quick-thinking self-starter and resourceful editor with the ability to ignite conversations in everything from traditional sports to the intersection of sports and culture. You have a sharp instinct of what both passionate and more casual fans will engage with, balanced with a commitment to content analytics. You thrive in a fast-paced, communication-driven team environment, and you know what it takes to drive readers toward digital audio experiences. You are passionate about the sports podcast industry, and driven to constantly seek growth through engaging content.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:
• Produce, assign, and distribute both original and syndicated podcast-themed editorial across Audacy's platforms, focusing on owned and operated properties
• Report into Managing Editor to lead podcast editorial planning and execution, including daily research/coordination of new episodes and guests.
• Publish daily article content focused on SEO and audio embed optimization with the end goal of converting readers into streaming audio listeners.
• Work closely with Audacy podcast brands Cadence13, Pineapple Street, and 2400 Sports to craft editorial strategy around top sports pods, such as the exclusive MLB league partnership.
• Build rapport with station editors/producers to identify and highlight top sports OTA moments in editorial across all our priority local markets.
• Directly manage a group of Podcast Content Producers in partnership w/ respective regional lead for each role. These writers will focus on quick-turn content around OTA/podcast audio w/ viral news-making potential
• Work with social, email, and app teams to maximize audio MAU potential of content in a cross-platform environment.
• Track and report on performance data to drive growth & double down on what's working.

Qualifications

More About You:

Required & Preferred:
• Bachelor's Degree
• Extensive knowledge of the sports podcast landscape required
• A minimum of 3 years of digital content creation experience (minimum of 1 year people-managing)
• Flexibility to work nights/weekends as needed (sports news doesn't stop at 5 PM)
• Experience writing all sports content, ranging from straight news to topical/evergreen lists
• Must have excellent writing skills and the ability to tell engaging stories
• Strong self-editing ability with attention to detail in grammar, punctuation, and design layout
• Ability to own the news cycle to make judgments and react instantaneously and independently to key breaking/viral opportunities
• Deep-rooted knowledge of a variety of popular sports, with a focus on football, basketball, and baseball
• Audio editing experience is a plus
• Strong SEO knowledge and expertise
• Basic Google Drive skills are required. Other systems you should have working knowledge of include, Google Analytics, Omny, Chartbeat, Slack, Dataminr, as well as how to use/navigate a Content Management System
