Overview

KYW Newsradio Reporter/Host

Are you a forward-thinking multimedia journalist interested in exploring and shining light on issues of inequality, race, justice, and culture? Do you have deep community connections and a passion for telling impactful, local, human stories that might not otherwise get attention? KYW Newsradio, an agenda-setting multiplatform newsroom in Philadelphia, is seeking an experienced, dynamic, innovative journalist to cover issues critical to communities across the region, and to serve as a host of Flashpoint, a fast-paced weekly interview show and podcast that airs across the Audacy Philadelphia stations (KYW Newsradio 103.9 FM & 1060 AM, 94 WIP, B101.1, 98.1 WOGL, 96.5 TDY, and 1210 WPHT).

Responsibilities
• Lead KYW Newsradio's day-to-day coverage of community issues
• Report, produce, and edit short-form and long-form audio stories for the radio, web, and podcasts
• Develop story ideas, series, and special projects connected to the community issues beat
• Cover breaking news with live and recorded on-scene reports
• Host a weekly half-hour interview program focused on community affairs and issues critical to the region
• Cultivate relationships with sources and community leaders
• Represent KYW Newsradio at community events

Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree
• 2-3 years of experience in a major market multimedia newsroom
• Experience hosting television, radio, or podcast interviews
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Strong editing, reporting and story development skills
• Ability to evaluate news leads and news tips to develop story ideas
• Strong organizational skills and solid work ethic
• Experience managing, coaching and mentoring junior producers/writers
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Experience with Adobe Audition, or similar audio editing programs
• Willingness to experiment and innovate
