Job Description:
The Senior Data Analytics Manager is part of the Digital Strategy and Development Department supporting and empowering stakeholders across the organization in their respective analytics needs. Reporting to the Senior Director of Data Strategy & Analytics, this person is responsible for promoting self-service analytics throughout the organization, from interfacing with internal stakeholders to building the tools, visualizations, and/or data models to support these needs, leveraging leading edge technology: Snowflake, AWS, Sigma, and Tableau, among others. As a member of the Data Strategy & Analytics team, you will collaborate with all departments across ASCAP. The team strives to foster an open and inclusive environment that drives discussion and innovation through the exchange of ideas.
This role is ideal for the most curious of analysts enthusiastic about driving transformational change by means of empowering a variety of internal stakeholder groups through the growth of our self-service analytics platforms.
Opportunities for new analytics products may vary from basic reports and visualizations to more advanced models and transformations. Excellent candidates are self-starters who are willing to quickly scale, learning about the business, tools, and skills – specifically SQL and Snowflake, needed for the role.
ASCAP is home to more than 840,000 music writer and publisher members across all genres - the greatest names in music, and thousands more in the early stages of their careers. We are the world leader in performance royalties, advocacy, and service for music writers and publishers, and are the only PRO in the US run by its members including songwriters, composers, and music publishers.
ASCAP resides at a unique crossroads of music industry datasets, capturing billions of data assets annually from dozens of global sources including Spotify, Pandora, and YouTube. The candidate has an exciting opportunity to build and present in-depth analyses on what is happening in the music industry today, and to help shape how it will grow in the future. We are looking for an imaginative and creative individual, passionate about music and interested in finding new ways to leverage our data to better serve our writers and publishers.
Responsibilities:
• Drive forward our self-service analytics mission by using modern data & analytics tools such as Snowflake (SQL, JavaScript, Python), AWS, Sigma, and Tableau to create high-impact data and analytics products
• Manage stakeholder expectations and competing priorities by thinking through the best ways to deliver incremental value while moving larger projects toward completion. We're an Agile shop
• Work closely with other members of the Data Strategy & Analytics team as well as a team of data engineers to brainstorm and implement creative ways to answer some of ASCAP's most challenging questions
Qualifications:
• You are an intellectually curious individual who enjoys asking questions. Not knowing an answer to a question bothers you, and you will stop at nothing to find a meaningful answer
• You are a thought-leader and self-starter excited to find ways to address new challenges and opportunities as they arise
• You enjoy collaboration and find personal fulfillment in empowering others to make the best use of data in any given situation
• You are a strategic thinker with the ability to situate day-to-day activities in the context of long-term initiatives, never losing sight of the 'why' behind team goals
• You have a proven track record of generating charts and/or visualizations to highlight an insightful outcome. Furthermore, you can clearly articulate complex ideas to someone who might not have the same level of understanding about the data as you
• You love music and are excited by our mission of supporting writers and publishers
Skills:
• Proficient in SQL and comfortable embracing the self-starter in you to quickly upskill on advanced SQL notation and/or Snowflake features and functionality
• Demonstrable experience working with stakeholders to gather technical requirements and build dashboards, visualizations, or reports
• Experience using Python or a similar coding language for data manipulation (Python or JavaScript preferred)
