Are you an up-and-coming rigging artist, someone that is proactive, has a good eye for detail and a passion for problem solving? We are looking for a keen junior technical assistant to help our Rigging team on our latest Warner Brothers Animated feature, Toto. This could be your step into a career as a Rigging Artist!
What you will get to do:
• Understand the visual requirements for the film, design procedures, techniques and tools that will enable these to be met
• Troubleshoot and provide user support within the Rigging Software and proprietary tools, escalate where necessary
• Assist with the QC process, supporting rigs as they move through the pipeline and aid with additional deformation fixes
• Test and validate new releases of pipeline tools both interactive (Maya) and automated (Farm) within these Production tool and Farm environments
• Provide feedback to ensure that tools and procedures support the creative process
• Provide solutions to visual problems through existing tools
• Debug render issues for reviews
• Understand the processes of adjoining departments (eg. Assets, Layout, Assembly) and provide input where required to maximise efficiency and quality
• Establish close partnership with Animation staff and other TD groups.
• Maintaining a clean common facility pipeline (tools, automation, practices) across multiple shows at the same time
• Create and update documentation as required.
What you bring:
• 1 + years' experience on feature films, TV and/or animated feature or equivalent education
• Experience supporting artists with technical issues in a production environment is preferable.
Knowledge/Skills
• Knowledge of both mechanical and organic type rigs
• Knowledge and experience working with Rigging tools in Maya
• The ability to troubleshoot problems as they arise
• An understanding of the 3D animation pipelines and the applicable tools
• Programming experience in Python and/or C++ is a bonus
• Knowledge of USD is a bonus.
