Are you a Junior Accountant interested in joining us in our Vancouver studio? Junior Accountants are responsible for Full-Cycle Accounts Payable, assistance with timely and accurately processing of Payroll for the Vancouver studio and helps drive the month-end close process ensuring timely financial reporting.
What you'll get to do:
• Collaborate with the Payroll Officer in the bi-weekly inputting and processing of payroll for up to 350 overtime eligible employees
• Become fully versed in the payroll function, acting as the backup to the Payroll Officer.
• Support the payroll officer in timely and accurately input and report the overtime, vacation, and other paid accruals
• Ensuring overtime hours and dollars are accurately calculated, inputted, and reported
• Support with the taxable benefits: accurately recognized, reported, and reconciled
• Collaborating closely with staff to ensure timesheets are submitted on a weekly basis with the appropriate coding
• Working closely with HR to ensure all payroll data is up to date and accurate
• Accurate processing and reporting of all termination payments and records of employment
• Assisting with the monthly reconciliations of all payrolls related general ledger accounts
• Assistance where required with annual financial audit.
• Full-cycle accounts payable duties including tracking, seeking approvals, posting invoices, and compiling the weekly EFT run
• Answer vendor inquiries and complete vendor reconciliations when required.
• Drive the month-end close process, ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled and accurate
• Prepare and input month-end journal entries for items such as accruals, prepaid expenses, and ad-hoc journals
• Management of accruals and prepayments schedules
• Own the GL & balance sheet reconciliation process
• Monthly Intercompany loan reconciliations
• Analyze P&L accounts, explain any variances
• Prepare working papers to support the various general ledger accounts
What you bring:
• Ideally, the candidate would have 2+ years' full cycle accounting and payroll experience for companies with 150+ employees (film or television experience an asset). However, this is not mandatory, and we welcome applicants who have strong desire to learn on the job.
• Experience with an integrated HR and payroll software for large businesses (ex. Dayforce- Ceridian, Workday, ADP).
• Experience with Great Plains Dynamics an asset
• Understanding of BC's Employment Standards Act
• Knowledge in calculating overtime as per the ESA
• Analytical mind with strong problem-solving and conceptual skills
• Advanced Excel proficiency
• Impeccable attention for detail.
