Full-Time Faculty, Audio Instructor

American International University (AIU) is looking for a dynamic and engaged full-time (Assistant, Associate) Audio Instructor for its newly established School of Film and Digital Media. We seek a creative Sound Designer with extensive experience working both on set and in postproduction, who is passionate about teaching, mentoring students, and building successful learning environments with them.

The ideal candidate is a current, active member of the film industry with at least one feature film credit, vast experience in short fiction formats. He/she should leverage professional know-how and expertise on industry protocols and practices to deliver relevant classroom experiences.

Candidates should demonstrate excellence in teaching related to the Sound Design curriculum and working proficiency within a small program specialized in personal attention. He/she will also be able to develop curriculum and mentor students both on set and in the post labs.

He/she will be a proactive team player ready to collaborate with colleagues from diverse communities and cultures in interdisciplinary projects and shared sessions.

The position carries the expectation for research and University service in addition to teaching responsibilities. Also, we expect leadership in undergraduate programs, curriculum development, mentoring, and startups. Qualifications:

• Practical communication skills in English
• University or Film School teaching experience
• Commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship
• Interest and experience working effectively with a diverse university community
• Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines

Experience:

• Sound Designer: 5 years (Required)
• Sound Recordist: 5 years (Required)
• Teaching: 5 years (Preferred)

Software:

• Protools (Required)
• BMD DaVinci Resolve – Fairlight (Preferred)
• Avid Media Composer & Adobe Audition (Preferred)

Education:

• Doctorate (Preferred)
• Master’s degree (Required)
• BA or BFA(Required)

Language:
