About Amazon Music
The Global Brand Marketing team within Amazon Music is looking for a driven and dynamic individual to lead our Brand Research & Insights. The Brand Marketing team works closely with senior leaders across Amazon, and has a high degree of visibility within the organization. The Head of Brand Research & Insights will be an essential leader of the team with broad analytical and market research responsibilities. In this role, you will help to drive global brand marketing strategy for Amazon Music by delivering best in class brand market research, leading to actionable insights at scale. This individual will design and manage robust research plans and consumer insights to answer key consumer and business questions and inform marketing, product and go-to-market approaches. You will bring prior experience developing research plans, managing brand trackers/surveys, growing brands, and scaling a consumer insights function inside of a brand organization. You will frequently author research, insights and strategy documents that clearly and persuasively distill complex data points into actionable insights for the Amazon Music team to support brand growth, consumer engagement and ensure brand strategy programs and insights are representative of different geographies around the globe. The role requires a commitment to goals, proactive examination, and a relentless focus on the customer.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead overall consumer and market research strategy, process and operations for Amazon Music, including creation of goals, approach, insights roadmaps.
• Bring big ideas to the table, and inspire others to deliver bar-raising, best in class ideas and plans, obtaining buy-in and effectively and efficiently implementing ideas at scale through strategic programs and initiatives
• Lead the development of the consumer insights roadmap for Amazon music, partnering with other insights teams to integrate 1P & 3P data & insights into a cohesive roadmap for the organization across brand marketing, product and industry teams.
• Design and manage robust research plans and consumer insights to answer key business questions and inform marketing and product strategies/go-to-market approaches.
• Lead foundational brand research to inform brand strategy, communications, and growth plans
• Drive development and definition of Amazon Music customer segments including socialization and adoption across the organization
• Recommend and conduct qualitative and quantitative research to enable better decision making around product and marketing
• Lead and collaborate across global teams to support international expansion and ensure brand strategy programs and insights are representative of different geographies
• Author business-driving documents that surface key learnings and provide recommendations for our go-forward brand marketing strategy
• Lead, hire, onboard, and develop talent within your team
• Architect and imagine future measurement capabilities in light of ever-changing data landscape
• Collaborate closely with team members in DISCO, R&B and CAST on projects that span multiple missions
• Present to senior leadership regularly to update on key metrics such as brand health, consumer trends, etc. and progress to goals
• Own the quality and vision of the Research & Insights team's work and represent the best practices of the team to both internal and external partners
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 9+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience
• Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams
• Experience building, executing and scaling cross-functional marketing programs
• Experience using data and metrics to measure impact and determine improvements
• Experience using Microsoft Excel to manipulate and analyze data
• Experience presenting metrics and progress to goal to senior leadership
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Market research, analytically-driven marketing consulting, or analytical marketing background
• Experience using data and metrics to drive actionable insights at scale
• Exemplary project management skills, with strong ability to juggle multiple priorities and excel in a lean and demanding work environment
• Experience with various types of research methodologies is key, including quant, qual, 1P & 3P data, trend analysis & forecasting, etc.
• Track record of developing and managing people and teams
• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field of study required
• Excellent strategic market research experience, conducting foundational brand research, defining and prioritizing customer segments
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Executive presence specifically when presenting metrics and progress to goal to c-suite stakeholders
• MBA or further business, marketing or analytical education
• Relevant brand strategy marketing experience, preferably with youth-oriented campaigns or brands
• Advanced decision-making skills with proven ability to lead, influence, align and inspire teams, including those who are not direct reports
• Operates with significant autonomy
• Highly data-driven possessing ability to use insights to frame recommendations and results into concise and actionable reports
