Your Mission

As Publishing Director, Activision Blizzard, Japan you will help strengthen and extend well-known brands and business in the local markets. You will formulate brand strategies and go-to market plans with the aim of acquiring new consumers and engaging existing players that unlock the ability to exceed business targets You will manage our organization and employees in the region. This is a challenging and crucial role within a very global-minded company that requires the individual in this role to assume overall day-to-day responsibility for the Japan region, while working with the global and local teams on the strategic development and growth of our regional business.

Responsibilities
• Manage Brand Leads (Call of Duty, Diablo & Overwatch) to formulate franchise strategies and go-to-market plans for Japan covering all platforms (PC, Console and Mobile) that are consistent with APAC and global strategies, with appropriate prioritization of budgets and resources that maximize opportunities to meet our business objectives.
• Collaborate with Brand Leads to be the product experts and owners of the end-to-end players' experience across Japan including developing a deep understanding of what motivates consumers to purchase and play games in the Japanese market.
• Responsible for building annualized and long-term franchise strategic plans for the Japanese market that achieve holistic Japanese growth aspirations that are aligned to APAC and global strategies and growth aspirations.
• Work with Insights and Analytics function to surface insights that can steer strategy design and provide Activision Blizzard a competitive advantage in the Japanese market.
• Steer ongoing live service marketing integration in Japan for recurring seasonal updates by surfacing opportunities to leverage cultural insights into live service development.
• Full P&L responsibility including detailed regional marketing budgets management.
• Collaborate with the APAC Managing Director and cross functional departments to deliver APAC Annual Operating Plans that are consistent with business priorities and provide support for new market entry strategy development.
• Monitor delivery, continuously evaluate, and endeavor to improve the company's performance in all respects including publishing, operations, and financial. Lead and champion initiatives important for the local success of our business and attain support and approval from various global functions as required.
• Provide regular, high quality, accurate, and timely management information, reports and analysis as required and ensure our business conforms to both country and regional laws and regulations.
• Motivate and provide inspirational leadership and direction to all employees in Japan and ensure the continued development and management of a professional and efficient organization.
• Ensure cross-departmental collaboration and strengthen internal communications with staff throughout the organization; create and promote a positive, multicultural work environment that is consistent with the culture of Activision Blizzard global.
• Represent the company and manage external 3rd party relationships, including leadership of partner agencies across the region to deliver best in class executions.
• Foster and maintain close relationships with HQ and territory stakeholders to bridge communications between the local teams and global teams.

Player Profile
• A minimum of 10 years' experience in publishing, marketing, product management or strategic planning with a minimum of 5 years' working in the video game or CPG industries leading large teams.
• In depth current working knowledge of the Japanese consumer market and broad understanding of channels within (social, media, regulatory factors, commercial models, and format nuances across console, PC and mobile).
• Experience in P&L management, forecasting and budgeting with an ability to work with executive finance counterparts to investigate and surface opportunities to accelerate operational income growth.
• Skilled at project management, to proactively bring initiatives and deliverables to completion and resolve obstacles effectively and with a sense of urgency by yourself.
• Passion for data and consumer insight driven decision making.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English; ability to credibly and clearly articulate a vision or complex idea.
• Proven leader who can motivate and develop high performing teams, creating clear development plans and driving cohesion to gain commercial results.
• Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across functions and regions, from manager to C-levels in a matrix organization.
• Ability to build a leadership reputation immediately based on expertise, influencing and communication.
• Attention to detail is essential, as is completing all tasks with the highest level of quality.
• A team-player attitude and able to be a promoter / advocate of teamwork at all levels
• Decisive, intelligent, and confident with a commitment to making the most epic entertainment experiences of all time within the context of providing high-quality service to our players in the region
• Strong commitment to the professional development of staff; successful track record of recruiting and retaining a diverse team
• Must be bilingual in Japanese and English.
