Global Communications Manager (Contract)

Activision is looking for a Global Communications Manager to help drive both the internal and external brand storytelling for key initiatives using authentic and creative communication approaches. Additionally, this role would be responsible for social and community engagement.

The person who will succeed in this role has a self-starter attitude, who can take both a traditional and non-traditional lens to securing press and influencer opportunities and sharing news and product updates with employees. The person must be a detail-oriented multitasker, who can work with a data-driven focus without compromising creative integrity. The ideal candidate has at least eight to 10 years of game PR experience in-house or at an agency, coordinated with international teams, mastered cross-functional relationship building, and successfully launched entertainment properties. Strategic thinking, familiarity with the latest communications techniques, and the ability to advocate for communications need to stakeholders across the organization are vital.

This person will be responsible for developing global PR and communications strategies for games under the Activision portfolio while working closely and collaboratively with our publishing, game development, in-house, and agency partners worldwide. The role will be responsible for ongoing media and influencer relations, developer interaction, message development, communications planning, trend pitching, crisis communications, managing relevant asset creation, and data-driven reporting that informs strategic thinking.

Responsibilities
• Develop the global communications strategy and plans reporting directly to the Senior Director of Product Management for Emerging Franchises and Internal Comms
• Serve as the primary PR point of contact for internal and external partners through pre-launch, launch, and post-launch phases
• Provide strategic counsel to the BU's internal stakeholders
• Work closely with the internal product marketing, owned social media, and community leads to ensure streamlined and strategic integrated communications and executions
• Partner with cross-functional regional and global publishing teams to transform goals into actionable strategies
• Manage and partner with global and international PR team, as well as global PR agencies, on regional strategy, creative executions, program management and reporting duties
• Manage PR-related analytics by creating, maintaining, and delivering coverage reports, recaps, and strategic executive summaries using data-driven insights
• Foster positive media relationships - secure top-tier earned coverage consistently by successfully pitching relevant and engaging story concepts and provide counsel for various press opportunities, including larger trend/ feature stories
• Drive strategic influencer partnerships and engagement
• Lead discussions and executions on product milestone communication timing and strategy, coordinating across different departments and regions
• Participate in discussions around overall brand positioning, communications pillars, overall strategic planning, as well as tone and content strategy
• Compose accurate, well-written press materials (e.g., plans, press distributions, pitch letters, Q&As, fact sheets, and proactive/ reactive messaging) and internal comms notes (newsletters, company-wide emails, talking points)
• Support media training and press briefings of spokespeople and staff interviews, industry events, and press interactions
• Participate and lead in team training, driving best in class communications practice and building positive team culture
• Travel domestically and internationally, as applicable
• Management of global PR budgets

Qualifications
• A minimum of 8-10 years of PR communications experience, strong experience in gaming is preferred
• Strategic thinker with a strong media relations background and proven placement results
• Able to identify and prioritize potential news opportunities to deliver a balanced brand conversation
• Able to compose and edit a variety of creative, business-oriented, and regional-based integrated communications
• Ability to coordinate teams across the globe
• Strong interpersonal skills, and multi-task on multiple levels
• Highly detail-oriented and driven to consistently meet deadlines
• Strong team player, able to drive effective product and brand PR strategy
• Able to work with other teams to complement and support each other's plans and objectives and determine how plan fit the bigger picture
• Crisis-management experience with the ability to provide strategic insight on how gameplay experiences will impact global audiences
• Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Business, or equivalent work
