Producer, ABC News Longform (PH)

ABC News Longform is hiring a Producer. The Producer will work with the creative lead for original programming to produce on breaking news features while maintaining a longer term production. This creative longform producer will head up a project working under the Senior Executive Producer and senior editorial team to deliver premium content for our streamers with an emphasis on Hulu. This producer will shape content into in-depth storylines, artfully written, structured and crafted into winning content. The position calls for field and edit room producing often under intense deadline pressure. This producer should be resourceful, innovative and highly creative. There will be heavy emphasis on story structure and production value. Ability to maintain focus on a long term project but prepared to turn full attention to breaking news features with short delivery window. Talent for multitasking is essential. Please note, this is a project hire role.

Responsibilities:
• Crashes complicated news and nonfiction specials for air mainly on streaming platforms.
• Reports, writes and produces complex longform stories under deadline pressure.
• Maintains a longer term project while turning attention to breaking news documentaries when scheduled.
• Helps identify and coordinate staffing needs for the project.
• Collaborate across news division and specialized units.

Basic Qualifications:
• Creative vision to conceptualize a longform story from preproduction through post production.
• Collaboration with production partners and various internal and external platforms.
• Strong research, excellent written and communication skills.
• Impeccable editorial judgment.
• Booking and interviewing.
• Field and edit room experience.
• Familiarity with a fast-paced news environment and understanding of news echo system.
• Multitask and problem solve under pressure.
• Innovate through creative devices and new framing.

Preferred Qualifications:

At least 5+ year's prior longform producing experience in news or documentary.

Required Education

BA or BS from a 4 year accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
