Manager, Production Management - ABC News Longform (Project Hire)

ABC News Longform is substantially growing its production output to produce narrative non-fiction content and news specials for the ABC network, Hulu and other Disney platforms. We are seeking an experienced unit manager on a longterm project basis to work across the projects that make up the ABC News Longform portfolio. This Manager reports to the Executive Direction Production Management and will work alongside the production management team to facilitate the day-to-day needs of the studio business with an emphasis on the Hulu portfolio. The Manager will maintain project schedules, assist the Production Management team in monitoring production status, and generate and distribute departmental tracking documents. In addition, they will facilitate on-boarding for new series and work with project hires to make sure they are clear on ABC News processes and protocols. The Manager will also work alongside the teams responsible for insurance, rights and clearances, risk management, staffing and post production operations to insure information flow and project compliance from pre-production through delivery.

Responsibilities:
• Serve as Unit Manager for ABC News Studios Production Management Department
• Manage departmental information flow – including share drive structure and file management, project schedules, PMD slate tracking documents, and series deliverables.
• Coordinate onboarding and other startup material delivery for each project, working alongside counterparts in other departments to communicate compliance guidelines and systems onboarding.
• Work with project hires to make sure they are clear on Disney/ABC News protocols and processes
• Assist the Production Management Department in building and refining best practices for production, including production manuals and other supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with Executive Producers, Line Producers and Director Production Staffing and Operations to track staff assigned to projects and assist with the information flow for onboarding.
• Coordinate closely with Edit Operations and Delivery teams to ensure project specifications for each delivery platform are met and schedules are adhered to during the post production process
• Collaborate on special projects as needed to assist in improving the work flows and best practices of the department

Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum 3 years of production management experience, including experience as production manager, unit manager, or senior production coordinator
• Expertise in managing file systems and maintaining/distributing tracking documents
• Expertise in production methods and the latest production technology
• Experience working across a diverse set of project types
• Experience managing a portfolio of projects at the same time
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to function in both a quick turn news environment and a longer term documentary production environment
• Calm under pressure and a willingness to be flexible to determine how best to work with different production teams

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in a production company or studio/network production management capacity
• A passion for non-fiction content, with both a news and documentary focus

Required Education
• BA or equivalent work experience
