WABC-TV's award-winning technology team is seeking an Information Technology Specialist. As the first responders to technical issues, IT Specialists play a critical role in ensuring seamless news gathering, production, and distribution. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional frontline support and contribute to shaping the future of WABC-TV.
WABC-TV is a 24 x 7 x 365 broadcast facility as such non-regular hours including weekends and holidays will be required
Responsibilities:
• Provide client focused support for users at WABC including but not limited to: Control Room, Studio, Newsroom, and Distribution systems
• Pro-actively engage end users throughout your shift to learn of challenges and successes while production is progress
• Collaborate with the technology team at WABC and beyond to resolve longer-term challenges that cannot be immediately resolved
• Maintain knowledge of Virtual Desktop systems and technologies in use by WABC-TV
• Maintenance and integration of new technologies with existing infrastructure, and ensuring they are conforming to company standards, security policies and regulations
• Troubleshoot and remediate complex systems in a fast-paced time sensitive live production and broadcast operation
• Analyze root cause to determine operational or technical issues and take necessary corrective action to prevent the issue from reoccurring.
• Participate with writing and collaborating on technical documentation for both technical and non-technical audience
• Interact with end users in News, Programming, Production and Creative Services on systems. Provide direction and training to them when issues arise during the day-to-day operations
• Ownership of Projects and Troubleshooting tickets through resolution
• Other duties as directed by Technology Department
Basic Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Highly organized and capable of monitoring and responding to high volumes of various forms of electronic communication
• Ability to communicate across the organization at all levels including operational staff and senior leadership
• Ability to Self-Manage tasks/projects while providing important updates to leadership team in a timely manner
• Strong knowledge and experience working with Active Directory, Apple and Microsoft desktop/server environments, TCP/IP and Cisco Networking, and Server Virtualization (VMWare) and SAN infrastructure
• Building and Implementing traditional IT and Broadcast systems utilizing current imaging technologies, such as MS Systems Center
• In depth experience supporting a broad range of technology such as mobile devices, laptops, desktops, and enterprise class servers
• Understanding of bare metal setup inclusive of building computer images and update packages
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science/network engineering/data communications or related field or equivalent years of experience
• Highly organized and capable of monitoring and responding to high volumes of various forms of electronic communication
• Familiarity with video streaming protocols such as SRT and NDI
• Proficient with one or more scripting languages like VB/.BAT/PowerShell and have experience with MS SQL database management
• Experienced with Adobe Creative suite and additional video editing software
The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $98,646 to $132,330 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
