Job Description
A24 is currently seeking an attorney to join our Legal and Business Affairs team to provide support on a broad variety of matters to A24's Finance & International Distribution divisions. You should be a motivated self-starter with a strong interest in Finance and the international distribution of film and television content. This role will be an integral member of a highly collaborative Legal and Business Affairs team.
Initial Responsibilities
• Draft and negotiate the film and TV project related documentation as required in connection with A24's credit facilities
• Draft, negotiate, and manage international sales agreements and related financial documentation with international distributors, studios and global streamers
• Run point on day-to-day business affairs issues and provide ongoing, proactive legal and business advice concerning all aspects of the distribution of A24's content internationally
• Provide legal support for international licensing, co-production agreements, film markets and festivals.
• Assist in providing practical, day-to-day business and legal affairs advice to internal business teams on general legal matters affecting A24
• Contribute toward improving deal parameters, deal memo templates, long-form agreements, contract management and precedent-tracking systems and other departmental resources, processes and procedures
• Establish and maintain key internal and external stakeholder relationships with regular, effective and timely communications concerning deal negotiation and business strategy
Qualifications
• LA-based
• J.D. is required; member in good standing of the California or New York bar
• 4-6 years of experience (with at least 2 years in the corporate/transactional department of a major US law firm); in-house entertainment business/legal affairs or entertainment finance experience and/or entertainment law firm experience preferred
• Extensive experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts; intellectual property law as it relates to entertainment; and the entertainment eco-system (e.g., development, financing, production, distribution)
• Demonstrated success in taking initiative and ownership of projects and willingness to learn and practice in new areas of the law
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively on cross-functional teams
• Sound judgment, strong interpersonal & organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple projects at a time
• Humble, diligent, resourceful
