Work Locations: With the exception of some select roles that have in-office requirements, A+E Networks operates on a flexible model that allows for remote, hybrid or full time in office work (in certain locales).
Office locations include New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Stamford, CT.

Job Description

*This position requires a hybrid working status minimum of two days per week onsite at the Stamford, CT office facility, with the alternate days working from home.

The primary role of this position is to technically support Broadcast Production and Post-Production facilities' activities in a hybrid on-prem and cloud environment. Activities include core hardware, software, and networking solutions design and deployment, in addition to working closely with Cloud Solution Architect and other engineers. Maintaining cloud components to maximize their uptime and performance and minimize their cost. This candidate will serve as an onsite and offsite engineer, being able to install, configure, and troubleshoot AWS infrastructure, support end user hardware, software, and managed services such as Avid's Edit on Demand (EoD), and related peripherals remotely, in multiple locations.

A+E Networks employs Avid suite (Interplay Production Asset Management, Nexis storage, Media Composer, ProTools, etc.) as well as the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite including Premiere and After Effects with associated plugins, Telestream Vantage transcoding, Vidchecker QA, Spectra Logic archive, Signiant, Aspera, Davinci Resolve, Prestore, Lucidlink, Files.com FTP, Teradici and HP RGS, Ivanti and JAMF Pro. All of the above requires the ability to support on premise and AWS cloud environments.

This position will ensure efficient operation, uptime, and overall stability of the technical environment. Hands on operational support and troubleshooting are a necessity.
Other than the main job responsibilities as described above, this candidate may at times be required to perform other general duties such as, and not limited to, equipment maintenance, shift coverage, and equipment installation/relocation, etc.

MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU'LL DO:

A proactive approach towards maintenance to reduce downtime is expected from this position. Some examples would be monitoring systems to catch problems before they surface, keeping software & operating systems up to date, as well as following manufactures' recommended maintenance procedures. In addition, this position requires the engineer to interpret, correlate, and isolate alarm/soft conditions.

A good working relationship with our business partners in production is also needed to ensure needs are met and there is proper User Acceptance Verification of upgrades. Configure and test systems in a well-organized and diligent manner, creating roll out plans and utilizing documentation to define and track progress are also responsibilities of this position

This candidate is expected to quickly resolve any conflict that arise during the implementation stage of a project by working with his or her engineering peers to resolve the problem or finds alternatives that are just as effective as the intended design in order to meet delivery date.

Responsibilities:
• Administration and troubleshooting of VMWare and AWS infrastucture
• Administration, installation, and support of post-production technologies and workflows (AVID Media Composer/Symphony, NEXIS, Interplay, Media Indexers, Airspeed, Pro Tools, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite,
• Windows and Linux Server and workstation deployment, administration, and troubleshooting
• The ability to collaborate to problem-solve complex problems residing in the cloud
• Install, set up, and configure Avid Editorial systems
• Field and respond to support requests
• Execute fixes and/or resolution needs, keeping clients and business stakeholders informed as to resolution status
• Participate in off hours maintenance and off-hours 'on call' rotation
• Various cables fabrication, connection etc.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:
• Ability to innovatively and comfortably work both independently and in teams
• You will gain an increased knowledge in how to adapt and optimize existing methodologies within our business partners' changing and contracting landscapes
• In this role you will gain in-depth technical knowledge and experience across the entire production media supply chain to support all business verticals.
• You will experience the symbiotic relationships between engineering, internal A+E business units and external vendors and how each contribute to the success of the company
• You will learn the principles of prioritization with business partners when there are multiple major projects needing a response
• Identify, analyze and diagnose all support issues related to Avid Editorial systems

YOUR STORY:

The Broadcast and Post-Production Engineer must possess solid written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate technical issues to engineering colleagues who have various technical abilities. This candidate must work well with others, stay on task and complete work on schedule, both independently as well as in a team setting. This role must also be able to provide solutions to integrate disparate systems into a consolidated service offering and manage accordingly. Being an effective project manager within a team-oriented collaborative environment is essential to success.

Experience and Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3 years' maintenance experience in a post-production, media production, or IT environment. Minimum 3 years' supporting production and network facilities
• Post-production equipment technology and data networks
• Experience working directly with users to understand and resolve complex issues.
• Expert-level support experience for AVID Media Composer/Symphony workstations, Interplay, Media Central, Air Speed, Pro Tools, and Nexis servers (Avid ACSR certifications are desirable but not required)
• Expert-level support, installation, and configuration experience for the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite. Additional support for AWS' EC2, S3 as necessary.
