NEWS INTERN (P/T PAID) - WTOC

About WTOC:

Savannah Georgia, servicing 17 counties in the South Georgia Coastal Empire and three counties in the South Carolina Lowcountry.

Internship Summary/Description:

WTOC is seeking eager journalism students to join our team as an intern. Our internships are now paid/part-time positions, so students will be trained on how to do a variety of jobs in the newsroom and then treated as employees in those roles.

WTOC Interns will be responsible for learning and then executing a variety of tasks in the news department, such as editing, writing for broadcast and digital platforms, assisting in show production, and even shooting video.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Qualified candidates must be currently enrolled in college and be at a junior or senior level. Candidates must also be earning college credit by completing our internship program.
- Students must be reliable and on time.
- Students must be self-motivated and eager to learn more about local news and how a newsroom operates.
- Students must have strong writing skills for both broadcast and digital platforms.
- Prior non-linear editing knowledge is a plus.
- Ability to maintain a positive work environment by behaving in a manner in which you work well with staff, our sources/interviewee subjects, and viewers.
