Every great story has a new beginning, and yours starts here.Welcome to Warner Bros. Discovery… the stuff dreams are made of.
Who We Are…
When we say, ''the stuff dreams are made of,'' we're not just referring to the world of wizards, dragons and superheroes, or even to the wonders of Planet Earth. Behind WBD's vast portfolio of iconic content and beloved brands, are the storytellers bringing our characters to life, the creators bringing them to your living rooms and the dreamers creating what's next…
From brilliant creatives, to technology trailblazers, across the globe, WBD offers career defining opportunities, thoughtfully curated benefits, and the tools to explore and grow into your best selves. Here you are supported, here you are celebrated, here you can thrive.
Rocksteady Studios is an award-winning, critically acclaimed video game developer. Founded in 2004, we are home to the widely celebrated Batman: Arkham series of games. Our philosophy for game development is all about treating people well to create quality entertainment that stands the test of time. We're a one-project studio that built our success by combining genre-defining gameplay and character-driven cinematic narrative with AAA production values. Born in the heart of London, our multicultural team takes inspiration from the culture and history of our home in one of the most diverse cities in the world.
Your New Role…
The Rocksteady Returnship programme at WB Games is a six month paid returnship for experienced professionals returning to the workforce.
The programme has been opened with the intention to provide full-time employment opportunities to anyone looking to resume a career following a long term career break for personal circumstances such as (but not limited to) full-time caregiving. If you feel this opportunity is right for you, we'd love to hear from you by way of an application.
At Rocksteady we are excited to be part of the WB Games Returnship programme because we appreciate the skills you can offer, the perspective you provide, and the contributions you will make. This programme offers you a chance to revamp your skills, update your resume with new experience, and make connections with others transitioning back to the workforce. It also offers learning and support to empower people to transition back to the paid workforce.
We are looking to offer three Returnship opportunities within the following Code departments: Gameplay, Engine, Tools, SDET (test automation and testing tools) Dev Ops, Web Development and Data Analytics teams. Our Gameplay, Engine and SDET teams primarily work in a production codebase written in C++. Our Tools and Dev Ops teams use a broader mix of technologies, including C++, Python and C#. Web Development use Javascript & HTML technologies, Data Analytics work with SQL.
All of these teams collaborate closely with numerous development teams, and have significant impact on the production of our title.
As part of your application, we would invite candidates to submit a covering letter, to share:
• Their preference for any of the above teams (we can keep candidates in consideration for all teams, if there is no strong preference on one particular team)
• Your availability to start this role at Rocksteady
We intend to hire these positions on a hybrid-working basis (from our Kentish town studio), but can review remote working arrangements for individuals who request them - with respect to Rocksteady's existing policies.
We are open to applicants with various levels of experience, and role compensation will subsequently be dependent on experience.
*We may also be able to accommodate part-time configurations for these roles, and will discuss on a case-by-case basis.
Your Role Accountabilities…
• Collaborate with the rest of the team to create, adapt and enhance features and systems
• Support other programmers and content creators
• Maintain and improve existing development tools, workflows and processes
Qualifications & Experience…
• Proficiency developing in C++, Python and/or C# (depending on the team)
• Solid communication skills for collaborating with both technical and non-technical team members
• Well-organised and efficient
• Experience working on a game project or game engine preferred
• Familiarity with a scripting language like Python preferred
• Experience working with a UI framework to build desktop applications preferred
How We Get Things Done…
This last bit is probably the most important! Here at WBD, our guiding principles are the core values by which we operate and are central to how we get things done. You can find them at www.wbd.com/guiding-principles/ along with some insights from the team on what they mean and how they show up in their day to day. We hope they resonate with you and look forward to discussing them during your interview.
