Data Governance Analyst Intern

San Mateo, CA

At Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), data is a critical business asset that facilitates business operations, empowers decision making, and provides vital insights into improvement and innovation of PlayStation products and services. The Data Governance team is tasked with the mission to instill a culture of responsible and effective use of data. With a focus on data privacy, this role will focus on executing data governance processes to advance the understanding of and compliance with data handling policies within SIE.

How you will spend your time:
• Understand and analyze data operations and processes at SIE
• Understand what data governance is and how it is operationalized at SIE via the data stewardship model
• Restructure current processes and develop new ones to achieve efficient and effective data stewardship and privacy compliance at scale. Including but not limited to: documentation of privacy reviews consisting of data flow diagrams and inventories of systems and activities

Qualifications:
• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in information systems with a focus/ interest in business process management and/or technology policy/ law
• Broad understanding of database concepts
• Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership for your work
• Strong communication skills - both verbal and written
• Eagerness to learn from and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes - a certain level of comfort with ambiguity and eagerness to bring structure and clarity to the understanding of complex systems with a can-do attitude
