Responsibilities

Spring 2023 Internship Program:

• Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need. We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.

Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:
• News Production Strategy: The News Group Newsroom Product Intern will get to work on meaningful projects in an exciting and collaborative environment with smart and hardworking individuals who are responsible for App leadership and direction for News Group tools, building creative technology and App solutions, driving innovation and reinvention of new technologies and workflows, executing on strategic projects and financial initiatives, continually exploring emerging technologies, performing competitive benchmarking and future-proofing the News Group.
• NBC Retail Operations: This team operates the The Shop at NBC Studios. they manage the general operation of business as well as develop product in conjunction with the shows ( Tonight, Late Night, Today, and SNL). Most of their product is exclusive, but they do have some licensed product that can be found in other retailers such as Golden Girls, Friends, The Office and other NBC Legacy properties. They also carry NBC Sports and News product and legacy items that feature the Peacock or logo. On the Tour side, they are working on a completely re-imagined Studio Tour and plan on re-launching the new Tour in early 2023. They also manage the Screening Room which is behind the Shop and manage stand by ticketing for the show audience as well as assist Audience Services with their gathering and organizing of the Show audiences on a daily basis. The intern will heavily focus on coordinating special events with the Retail team, including book signings, product launches, Symphony Space installations, and an archival space displaying costumes & props.
• Global Response & Intelligence Center: The Global Response and Intelligence team works out of the Global Response and Intelligence Center (GRIC) and is responsible for 24x7 monitoring of internal and external crisis events while using real-time intelligence to determine threats and incidents that could impact NBCU assets worldwide. The GRIC acts as an incident response center that coordinates crisis response and communicates with security personnel to ensure the safety and security of those assets. On top of keeping track of NBCU office location and production sites, and their points of contact, monitoring reports, the intern will also assist GRIC analysts with various products.
• Data & Analytics: The content production analytics team is responsible for bringing in data and metadata surrounding NBCUniversal created/managed content. The team comprises data and analytics engineers and closely works with various product teams. The intern will assist with building and enhancing data pipelines to gather data around content/titles, as well as bringing in data together from multiple different sources. The intern will also assist with building and enhancing existing analytics dashboards.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
• Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the length of the program.
• Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by NBCUniversal.
• Must be willing to work from New York, NY.

Desired Characteristics:
• Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Some knowledge of software development lifecycle and agile is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, specifically with Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of and experience with mobile technologies, including iOS and Android.
• Experience with basic Python, including functions, classes, scripting, and ANSI SQL.
• Familiarity with AWS Cloud, Snowflake, Airflow, Tableau, and PowerBI.

Additional Requirements:
