Spring 2023 Internship Program:

• Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need. We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.

NBC Sports Next

NBC Sports Next is a subdivision of NBC Sports and home to all NBCUniversal digital applications in sports and technology within its three groups: Youth & Recreational Sports, Golf, and Betting, Gaming & Emerging Media. NBC Sports Next is fueled by its mission to innovate, create larger-than-life events and connect with sports fans through technology to provide the ultimate in immersive experiences. 

Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:

Data Science:
• Decision Science – this intern will assist handling the inputs and outputs of our operational algorithms, assist in running the algorithms, makes inferences about the data and research new methodologies of enhancing the inhouse processes using operations research and advanced analytics techniques.

Engineering:
• Engineering & Analytics – This position will support all NBC Sports Next brands including Youth Sports, GolfNow, EZLinks, and International BRS. The area of focus will be working directly with our Data Engineering & Analytics teams on project management, documentation, analysis of customers, engagement, and platform metrics. In this role, the candidate will have the opportunity to work on cloud platforms, larger datasets,

Fantasy, Betting & Gaming:
• Edge, Product, Gaming – This intern will support the gaming product team.  The team is responsible for the management of the NBCSportsEDGE.com products as well as the NBC Sports Predictor app.  The group is the subject matter expert in the newest frontier of sports media: sports gambling and gamification of sports.  In the next year, this team will oversee a major project to merge NBCSports.com, Golf Channel and NBCSportsEDGE.com in one cohesive site. 

IT Support:
• Golf Now Customer Support & Implementation – GolfNow Member Care provides consumer facing support to NBC Sports Golf/NBC Sports App, Golf Reservation Center, GolfNow/TeeOff (online golf booking platform), and Peacock TV streaming. This intern will be invited to meetings across multiple departments, such as Marketing, Technology, and 3rd party vendors while proactively participating in discussions surrounding improving the customer experience.
• Partner Care Support & Implementation – Our Partner Care Implementation Team is responsible for consulting, implementing and onboarding our operations technology solutions which Partner Golf Courses use to successfully run their businesses. As an intern for our team, you will have direct interaction with people in entry level positions all the way up to the Vice President of the department.

User Design:
• UX Design – NBC Sports Next Golf team designs and develops industry leading digital consumer businesses like GolfNow and GolfPass. Our UX Design group is directly responsible for creating and optimizing the end user experience of these digital applications that touch millions of people daily. This intern will work with Engineering, QA, Product Managers, Project Leaders as well as business stakeholders within the NBC Sports consumer business vertical and beyond.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
• Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the length of the program.
• Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by NBCUniversal.
• Must be working from a location within the United States during all hours worked.

Desired Characteristics:
• Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
• For Decision Science: SQL, Advanced Excel, Python/R.
• For Edge, Product, Gaming: Proficiency in project management tools (e.g. JIRA) is preferred.
• For Engineering & Analytics: Pursuing a degree in Statistics, Operations Research, Data Science, Business Analytics, experimental science, Computer Science, or a related field.
• For UX Design: Understanding of design principles (Balance, Hierarchy, White Space, etc)and experience in design programs (Figma, XD, Sketch)is desired.

Additional Requirements:
