Job Description
The Digital Media Intern will assist the Marvel.com editorial and social media department in all aspects.
Responsibilities:
Assist the social media and editorial team in all aspects, including content creation, project organization, page moderation, strategy, and more, including:
• Brainstorm and attend meetings to assist with strategy and provide creative ideas
• Help with content creation, scheduling, and organization
• Research Marvel history and dialogue for social media content
• Gather and chart analytics and social media metrics for reporting
• Proofing and copywriting articles and bios for publishing on Marvel.com
• Identify content opportunities by working with the editorial team to engage and excite audiences.
• Develop evergreen content and/or writing news items.
• Curate and organize photo assets, optimized for social and web.
• Other job-related duties or projects as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
• Passion for the Marvel brand, pop culture, and/or comic books.
• Possession of a strong work ethic and high level of confidentiality.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent grammatical/writing/editing skills, and knowledge of AP style.
• Technical understanding of and interest in major social media platforms and their best practices.
• Understanding of and ability to adhere to strict brand guidelines.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to interface with cross-functional teams in a professional way.
• Must be proactive and work well in a team environment.
• Resourceful and organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, handling several projects at once and meeting tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Photography, video, and design skills a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Resume must outline other internships, degrees earned, work experience, related clubs and organizations, current major course of study, expected graduation date and extracurricular activities.
• Cover letter must include a personal introduction that includes a brief description of related experiences, and why they're the best fit for the position at Marvel. The more creative, the better! And days/times available during internship period.
• At the end of the cover letter, describe in 280 characters which Marvel character you relate to the most – and why.
• Preferred Junior or Senior-level standing
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
Required Education
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program by arrival date, ideally pursuing a degree in a communications, writing, or marketing.
• Junior, Senior Undergraduate Program student status by arrival date is preferred
The pay rate for this internship in New York is $15 per hour.
Additional Information:
Internship Eligibility:
• Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization
• All candidates must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session.
Program Dates:
• All candidates must be available from January 2023 through June 2023
• All candidates must be available to work a minimum of 21-29 hours per week during a Monday through Friday schedule during business hours (hours and days to be determined by your supervisor)
• All students must provide a consistent, reliable work schedule during the session
Work Environment:
• This internship is a remote internship. The internship requires a working, reliable internet connection, as well as a quiet, dedicated work space.
