Groom Artist Internship - MetaHuman Creator

Epic Games Metahuman Creator team is looking for a creative Groom Artist I ntern to join them in 2022. MetaHuman Creator is a free cloud-based app that empowers anyone to create photorealistic digital humans, complete with hair and clothing, in minutes. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to work directly on our new Unreal Engine tool for creating high-fidelity fully rigged digital humans, alongside some of the world's leading artists.
Our Interns are given challenging projects over the work term, and are provided with a meaningful experience with high expectations for performance. If you want to build something Epic, this is the opportunity for you!

Responsibilities:
• Develop new strand-based grooms for MetaHuman Creator including eyelashes, eyebrows, facial hair and hairstyles
• Learn how to combine and alter existing grooms to create variations for the tool based on reference images
• Learn what is required and what to avoid in card-based grooms creation, and grow to a level where you can provide feedback on deliveries
• Test internal tooling efforts for strand and card based grooms
• Expand to other tasks such as optimization, creating mesh helmets and/or baked textures of strand-based grooms for LODs, etc.

Qualifications:
• Enthusiastic junior with a strong portfolio that includes examples of grooms
• Experience working with X-Gen in Maya or similar strand-based grooming systems
• Knowledge of hair rendering and/or simulation in-engine is a plus
• Knowledge of card-based grooms is a plus
