DFX Intern

Position Summary

This position is ideal for individuals who have the drive and desire to 'make things happen'. It requires a highly motivated individual with attention to details and a hunger to learn and solve problems. In this role you will be collaborating with Deluxe's creative departments to assist in producing bespoke international title recreations that are indistinguishable from the original version. Similarly, you will also assist with key art localization and focus on excellent customer service. This position will be a hybrid position. We are headquartered in Burbank, CA.
Outcomes and Accomplishments

The goal of the internship program is to prepare the candidate to confidently enter the professional workforce and be ready to:
• Collaborate on a project as an independent contributor or as a team member
• Manage own schedule
• Know when to ask for help
• Understand various motion graphics and key art workflows
• Identify various stakeholders in the workflow and know how to engage with them

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a combination of skills and practical knowledge as follows:
• Software common to print, post-production, graphics industries, such as: Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design as well as Mocha Pro and Maxon Cinema 4D
• A grasp of typography, identifying fonts and type design
• Compositing and animation of graphics
• Building composition projects with all the relevant source backgrounds and artwork
• Creating outputs such as 2D, Stereoscopic 3D, Film-out
• Archiving design projects

In this role, the ideal candidate will learn the know-how and subsequently perform the following tasks. Guidance, instructions, and sign-off step will be provided for all tasks:
• Assist in performing asset research, or asset pre-qual (as applicable), to evaluate if assets received are workable
• Compositing and animation of graphics for professional project delivery
• Language versioning of various key art graphics for professional project delivery
• Creating outputs as assigned on a project
• Archiving design projects as assigned

At the end of the program, the candidate will:
• Have an understanding and appreciation for the DFX artist role within the end-to-end production pipeline
• Have an understanding and appreciation of what timelines and SLAs mean and how they apply to specific projects
• Various workflows applicable to motion graphics and key art
• Evaluate source assets and determine if they are workable or not
• Identify various stakeholders and professionally communicate with them per project requirements
• Know how to efficiently use various tools required to execute on a project
• Know how to be a team player
