CNN International

CNN International is the largest international news network. CNN international interns will get an opportunity to view the inner workings of one of the leading news network in the world. The CNN International unit in New York is primarily responsible for covering Global Business News through the output of three programs including First Move with Julia Chatterley, The Express with Richard Quest, and Quest Means Business, presented by Richard Quest.

The Teams

CNN International offers an opportunity to experience, learn, and be exposed to its programming and newsgathering cycle. By applying to this posting, you can be considered for either of the show teams listed below. If you have a preference, please specify in your cover letter.
• First Move with Julia Chatterley/Business Unit: Interns will have the opportunity to work on First Move, a daily global business program featuring the latest headlines and top newsmakers, while gaining exposure to the business unit. This internship will be virtual.
• Quest Means Business, presented by Richard Quest: Richard Quest gives expert analysis and commentary on the biggest business stories. This internship will be hybrid.

The Daily

The tasks include, but are not limited to:
• Interns will gain experience in the production of a program and see how show ideas are developed, how videotape is gathered and edited, the script-writing process, and how the program is built from an editorial and production perspective.
• The intern will also book, research and greet show guests and contribute in future meetings.
• Interns will also learn how to use CNN's tape database to locate tapes for packages and sound bites for air.
• Interns will help share the content across multiple platforms including social media.
• This internship will offer a great opportunity to strengthen your research and communication skills.
• Intern schedules vary and may include weekend work.

The Essentials

Candidates should:
• Be passionate about news and self-motivated
• Be able to multitask and have a good attitude
• Be able to function well in fast paced, high volume environment
• Have an interest in Business news and broadcast journalism plus knowledge of social media.

Internship Program
• Students must be currently enrolled in a college degree program for the full duration of the internship
• Spring 2022 program dates are January 24th - April 15th; must be available for full program duration
• Part-time schedule (16-24 hours/week) designed to work around class schedule
• Company-issued computer provided for the duration of the internship program.
