Job Description

The ABC News Early Morning team produces 2 hours of overnight news programming on the ABC network (World News Now and America This Morning) with 1.5 million combined viewers on average per day, while also servicing Good Morning America's production needs.

Responsibilities:

A day in the life…
• Assist producers with all aspects of news gathering and production, including on-air segments
• Build story proposal lists and elements
• Assist with delivery of show production elements/rundowns, etc.
• Running scripts and lineups
• Travel on story shoots
• Opportunities for story writing/editing available and encouraged
• Opportunities for pitching and producing segments for air

Basic Qualifications:

• Strong news judgment
• Strong writing skills
• AVID editing experience preferred
*TO BE QUALIFIED, YOU MUST BE WILLING TO WORK A REGULAR OVERNIGHT SHIFT (IN PERSON) FROM 8PM – 4AM, SUNDAY-THURSDAY*

Preferred Qualifications:
• Recent graduate OR current graduate journalism student
• Major or previous coursework in journalism
• Previous experience (academic or internship) in television, news & new media production
• Previous experience (academic or internship) writing news stories for publication
• Strong proficiency in non-linear video editing software (AVID)
• Previous internship experience in professional newsroom

Additional Information:
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization
• Must be at least 18 years old
• At the time of application, must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class – OR – be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last eighteen (18) months - OR - be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program
• Must be willing to relocate to the New York City area and provide your own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship
• Must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session
• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program

Program Dates
• Must be available from January to May
• Must be willing to work 40 hours/week- OVERNIGHT SHIFTS. Shifts typically are 9pm-5am. Intern could work a couple days in the office and a couple days remotely.
