Job Description:

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. ("MGM") is seeking an Administrator of Credits/Clearance Compliance. This individual will work in the business affairs and legal department and provide support and assistance in the area of credit compliance and legal clearances for advertising, marketing, and publicity materials. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of guild and MPAA rules, ability to draft paid advertising obligations, and work with production staff, talent, theatrical business affairs attorneys, and marketing staff. The applicant should be a highly motivated, detail oriented individual with outstanding communication and organization skills. This is a high-volume work environment that requires speedy and exacting reading and retention skills.
Responsibilities:
  • Support department in reviewing advertising, marketing and publicity materials and advising on clearance concerns based on paid ad obligations, established legal principles and company policy considerations.
  • Identification and verification of the rights of the company to air or use material owned or created by third parties including talent, personal likenesses, music, scripts, mechanicals, photos and other copyrighted materials, including researching material to ensure that there are no ownership claims and disputes, managing a high volume of time sensitive marketing materials (e. g., trailers, TV spots, 1-sheets, video packaging, digital and social media ads, etc.) requiring quick turnaround.
  • Provide any research, review and revision of rights, clearances, holdbacks and any other restrictions and/or contractual obligations for applicable markets and platforms as requested by sales and marketing staff, and 3rd party distributors.
  • Review of all advertising materials generated internally and by 3rd parties for theatrical distribution of motion pictures.
  • Provide guidance to marketing team on early development of advertising and promotional materials to comply with all contractual obligations.
  • Effectively communicate with marketing to correct materials as necessary for compliance and assist in the resolution of problems and roadblocks as they occur. Recognize deviation from accepted practices and confirm appropriate next steps.

Job Requirements:

Must have 3 or more years of experience in reviewing advertising/marketing materials in the application of paid advertising obligations to such materials.
  • Have extensive experience in the review and interpretation of talent agreements for name and likeness restrictions, commercial tie-ins and merchandising obligations, and paid ad requirements.
  • Must have speedy and exacting reading and retention skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under extreme time pressure is essential.
