This is a unique opportunity to help create Blu-ray and DVD discs for leading studios. 1K Studios is looking for a detail-oriented Authoring Lead for our Technical Services team.

1K Studios is a fun, design-oriented environment focused on Creative and Technical Services for entertainment clients. Our clients include movie studios, technology companies, and game companies.

The BD/DVD Authoring Lead oversees and performs the production of high quality DVD authoring projects for disc-based home entertainment, such as DVD-Video and Blu-ray platforms. Job responsibilities includes group oversight and training, hands-on authoring, and testing of product within a small team of software engineers, compressionists, testers, and creative producers. Help Director of Technical Services construct and maintain procedures and best practices for efficiency and quality of product. This would include workflow efficiencies between the authoring group and the programming and encoding groups. Participates in the creation of project templates for the authoring team. Gains intimate knowledge of technical specs and performance requirements of the authoring tools and delivery platforms. Delivers outstanding products to our Studio partners, and their audience.

Job Requirements

Experience required

• 3+ Years DVD authoring utilizing Sonic Scenarist or similar platform
• 2 Years BD authoring utilizing Sony Blu-Print or Sonic Scenarist BD platform
• Ability to work independently, and able to manage multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity
• Solid fundamental knowledge of today’s complex array of media technologies
• Strong work ethic, ability to deliver on a deadline
• Commitments to excellent quality and user experiences
• Self motivated, energetic

Pluses:
• Some programming experience
• Photoshop experience
• Film / TV Production experience
• Experience with industry leading visual design tools
• Understanding of XML + JavaScript technologies (AJAX, DOM Manipulation)
• Production experience with interactive platforms
